Shimla,
popularly known as the 'Queen of All Hill Stations', is located in the north
Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The beautiful town was established by the
British to get relief from the searing heat of the northern plains in the
summer season. Shimla is the capital city of the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Over the ages, the beautiful town has emerged as one of India's most popular
hill resorts. Easy accessibility and countless attractions of the place

every year. The town is beautifully surrounded by pine, deodar, oak and

» The Mall - The Mall is popular tourist attraction
in Shimla. It is the chief shopping area of the town. There is a trip from
the Cart Road to the Mall in the Lifts. The system has been developed to
prevent the city from crowding and to save one walking. One can find
numerous shops and stalls displaying exquisite and interesting local arts
and crafts. Handicrafted Chinese shoes of Shimla are very popular.
» Jakhu Temple - The Jakhu Temple is located at an
elevation of 2,455 m. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It take 45
minutes from the Mall to the temple. Splendid views of the valleys and the
town can be had from here.
» Chadwick Falls - A 45-minute walk ahead of the
Summer Hill Chowk takes you to the Chadwick Falls. The scene of dense
forests around the falls is truly commendable. It's a not-to-be-missed site.
» Christ Church - The Christ Church is yet another
attraction of the place. It is the second oldest church in northern India.
Built between 1846 and 1857, the ancient church overlooks the ridge and is a
chief landmark of the town. Tourists never miss the spot while on a tour to
Shimla.
» Summer Hill - The Summer Hill is an ideal picnic spot, lying
at an elevation of 1,283 m . During his visit to Shimla Mahatama Gandhi
resided here in the Georgian House of Rajkumari Amrit Kaur.
» Kufri - Kufri is a beautiful tiny hamlet located at a
distance of 16 km from Shimla. Splendid views of the countryside and the
mighty Himalayan mountains are the attractive feature of the village. The
village is also a centre of attraction for ski enthusiasts who arrive here
to enjoy its skiing slopes.

The Jubbarhatti Airport (23 km) is the closest airport from Shimla. Shimla
has a narrow-gauge railway line that runs from Kalka to Shimla. The
toy-train is the perfect way to enjoy the richness of beauty that nature has
conferred upon the magnificent town of Shimla. Form Kalka there are trains
to reach other chief destinations of the country. There are regular bus
services from Delhi and Chandigarh as well. There are deluxe, semi-deluxe
and AC coaches available to get to Shimla too.

The ideal time to pay a visit to Shimla is between the months of April and
August and between December and January.
